As a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), NALCO has contributed INr 6.51cr for development work in Koraput district, Orissa. NALCO has its alumina refinery and bauxite mining facility located here. A cheque of INR 1.51cr-25% of the total contribution, as mobilization advance for 2008-09 towards the development of Koraput district was handed over to Shri Gadadhar Parida, collector, Koraput by Shri RP Swain, GM (H&A), Nalco. The remaining INR 5cr will be provided by the company as and when the development works proceed.

This amount will be spent on 94 development projects identified by the Rehabilitation & Periphery Development Advisory Committee (RPDAC) meeting held in January 2009. These projects aim at providing infrastructure facilities and include works such as construction of roads, culverts, additional classrooms at various schools including additional hostel rooms for inmates for around 94 villages in the Koraput district. NALCO has allocated in excess of Rs 35.24 crore in the last five years for various development projects in Koraput district.
